The Paranormal Journal Foundation Charter

The Paranormal Journal Foundation (herein The Foundation), strives to be the first open collection of peer reviewed, research articles related to the paranormal investigative field, to include:

  • Investigative Techniques
  • Case files
  • Working Theories
  • Equipment

1. Foundation Organization

1.1 Foundation Head

The Foundation Head (herein 'The Head'), at the time of organization will be Corey E. Reichle. The Foundation Head is subject to removal upon a unanimous vote of no-confidence from the Foundation Chairperson and Foundation Committee. This article goes into effect 2 years after the initial date of organization of The Foundation. No amendment to these articles may revoke this article. The Head holds a 50% voting authority on The Committee. The Head also holds exclusive revocation privileges of any member of The Foundation Committee (herein 'The Committee').

1.2 Foundation Chairperson

The Foundation will have one chair person (herein 'The Chair'), who will be elected by the Review Committee. This person will serve a term of one calendar year. This person will hold a 25% voting authority on The Committee. The Chairperson will be voted on November of each year, assuming authority on the first business day of January.

Nominations for The Chair consists of any member of The Committee who is in good standing. Until the initial election of The Chair, The Head will appoint a Chairperson to serve.

1.3 Foundation Committee

The Foundation Committee will be comprised of 9 elected members, subject to expansion at any time. The Committee will vote on all editors seeking review status, matters of professional ethics, revocation of review privileges, and all other matters not outlined herein.

The Committee is able to add a new member to it's rolls, by voting with a 2/3 majority vote. In the case of replacing a member of The Committee who resigns, or is relieved; a simple majority. Newly elected members of The Committee must be added to the rolls two at a time, to maintain an odd number of members.

The Committee also holds all privileges of Reviewer.

1.4 Reviewers

All reviewers must be approved by a majority vote of the Foundation Committee, subject to veto by the The Head or The Chairperson. Reviewers have the authority to flag an article as approved, and subject to publishing.

The position of Reviewers is subject to the following qualifications:

  • Editor with 500 or more edits
  • Creation of one published article
  • Editor term of 1 year

2. Journal Publication

The Journal will have publish one journal every six months. This period can be changed subject to a simple majority vote of The Committee.

Articles which have not been reviewed will only be viewable to registered editors.

Published articles must meet the following Criteria:

  • 1200 words minimum
  • Consist of an abstract, body, pertinent data, in-line citations as appropriate, and a bibliography.

All articles marked as Approved will be published in the next published journal.

3. Editor privilege revocation

Reviewers have the authority to ban a user from editing The Journal, for a maximum of 6 months (Registered Editors), or permanently (IP or anonymous editors). Permanent bans of registered users must be approved by the Foundation Committee.

Valid reasons for banning an editor are professional ethics misconduct, disruptive editing, and any other reason deemed valid by The Foundation.

4. Professional Ethics

One of the highest values striven for is professionalism in the field, and ensuring all materials published are of a verifiable high-quality. One of the cornerstones of these goals is professional ethics. The below listed occurrences by any member of the foundation are subject to banning for a period of 5 years, appeallable only to The Head. Appeals are solely at the discretion of The Head.

  • Falsifying Data
  • Impersonation of another editor
  • Anything bringing discredit to The Foundation or it's publication

Any professional ethics violations will be reported to The Committee. Upon notification, The Committee will immediately being investigation into the violation. Until the investigation is concluded, the editor in question will not be allowed to publish any articles, or to edit any current in-work articles.

A professional ethics ban is subject to a 3/4 majority vote from The Foundation.

5. Intellectual Property

All articles produced underthe Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0. All media uploaded to The Journal will be under the same licenses as well.

6. Editing Policies

All policies marked as Approved (Voted by simple majority) by the committee will be in full effect, subject to veto by The Head or The Chairperson. No policy will contravene these Articles.

7. Article Amendment

These articles may be amended by a vote put to the entire community. The community holds a 50% vote, The Head holds a 25% vote, The Chair holds 12.5% vote, and the Committee holds a 12.5% vote.
